Hit the lake at 7:30 am. Very windy, rains showers on and off. Water was a little murky. water temp? forgot to check:( air temp? 58. Fishing by myself, Dave Newbie style:) I caught my first NW Largemouth in the stumps, about 1lb, looked like a softball. At 9:45 I hooked and landed this fish. Unbelievable! Luckily I had my phone for a pic, unluckily I have no scale....what do y'all think? Gimme some estimates on the weight. Not that it helps, but I am 6'2" and 278 lbs. I know, I need to lose a few, but if this is the way to gain weight in the boat! All fish caught and released. (5 total) I was using 4.5" punkin seed power worm and caught the big one on a 2 blade yellow spinnerbait. Thanks to all you guys and gals and this site for getting me up to Silver Lake.

Awesome fish CR, if I had to guess the weight I would say somewhere around 4.5 - 5 lbs. Maybe more, maybe less.....I'm not very good at estimating. Well done!

Looks like a 6-7 lb fish to me. That is an awesome fish. These are your first NW bass, have you caught many in other states? You should be able to kinda make an estimation yourself, I say that thing is close if not over 7lb for sure.

CR,

By the looks of your "long arming" the fish...it's about 12 lbs. I truely say that it's about 6 lbs +- 4 ounces.

It is about 5.5 pounds, which is solid in any state.

Pitchnboy,
I was fishing the that odd timber/ old dock? thing just off the lily pad patches.

ChrisB,
I was raised bass fishing in GA but have only fly fished in the nw until now. I lucked out when I was 10 years old and caught a 10lb 5 oz lunker in central Ga. i have also caught bass within sight of our nations capitol and in Va, Tennesse, Alabama, Florida, both Carolinas, and La, but I have not done any bass fishing since 1992. a lot has changed, especially with lures, but luckily my old spinnerbaits still work.

Ching1278,
yep, long arming, but it does make for a better shot! i recently took photos of some 18" cutthroat trout, but they looked puny in the photos, so there is my excuse:)

Say catch and release people go to Silver Lake Resort to get a accurate weight of your fish on certified scales and maybe a picture posted at the resort of your catch

Pitchnboy,
it was the pilings and was almost completely at the end that has lily pads.

Dave,
Thanks for the heads up on the resort! I will do that next time I am up and catch this fish's Daddy.

Catch and release is the only way for bass! How big might they get? It will be fun to try and find out.
