I have fished Mcginnis a few days a year for four years and have always had a great day of fishing...20+ fish a day. I fished for four hours using an intermediate line, floater, and a full sink with woolly buggers, damselfly nymphs, and just about everything I had in my fly box, I was the only fisherman on the lake.

I never even had a hit. I initially attributed my lack of success to the hot weather, but as I was filling out my creel census report, I noticed several other reports in the box which I perused. There had only been four fish caught in the last month...I suspect the fish were caught by bait fisherman as they were all retained. I will be back but not this year. I gave a "2" rating only because it's a beautiful lake, despite the garbage on the west end (I picked up as much as I could without sinking my pontoon boat).
