Too hot, too bright, too calm....in a word, TOUGH! Temps 70-85, surface water temp 70, mostly non-existent wind. We were all on the lake by 9:45. By 2:00 I'd managed only 10 hook-ups, with 2 snapped off and 5 nice rainbows to net. The action was OK but has definitely slowed. My partners each had a few also. Black buggers and olive stillwater nymphs would draw an occasional strike if fished deep and blood worms and red chironimid patterns got the same action when fished on the bottom. Fish were deep in the morning but by noon they'd suspended 14-16 feet down in 25 feet of water. Lots of very small trout rising, the WDFW may have recently planted fry.
