Fished Memorial Weekend at Davis Lake. Caught and released 20+ fish per day. Fish were brightly colored and feisty. Fought long and hard with a lot of jumping out of the water. Most were between 10 to 14 inches. We were trolling a black woolly bugger with shiny flash on a sink tip line from our kick boats. On the morning of Memorial Day my first cast hooked a fish. It felt like a big one. I yelled at my husband, "I think it's a big one". Since he's heard that one before, he just ignored me. I played the fish for another 10 minutes and yelled again, "I reallllllyyyyy think it's a BIG ONE". I still hadn't got a look at the fish yet, but my hubby started kicking over to me and at the same moment we both saw the dorsal fin of the fish as it swam by, and YES, it was a BIG ONE! It took another 10 minutes to get the fish in the net (it was too big for the net). It was the most beautifully colored fish. Husband got a good picture of it. Approximately 20 inches... and too fat for me to get my two hands around.

We love fishing Davis in the spring and early fall. We used to fish Campbell Lake until it all but dried up. Good news is that it's recharging. Hope to be back on Campbell next spring.

Good fishing....
