I was at this lake over Memorial weekend. I arrived early and there was a slight wind. I went to the undeveloped side of the lake where all the logs are down in the water. If you have been to this lake, you know what I am talking about. This is a very clear lake with lots of boat and jet ski traffic, therefore I down-sized my lure. I used a small floating Rapala and fished it right above all the logs and limbs. I did not count the bass I caught, but guessing around 30. Most were small, so I switched to a small tube jig. I continued to catch small bass, but did land 6 bass around 2 pounds. I fished from 6 AM till about 11 AM. The wind continued to blow and I continued to catch bass. I then returned to the lake the next day and fished the tube jig again.

The wind was blowing harder than the previous day with white caps. I did not do as well on the tube as the day before, so I started casting the Rapala again. The wind blew me across the lake and I fished the entire side opposite the boat ramp. I hooked several bass on the Rapala, casting to the edge of the bank and used a jerk-reel-jerk pattern. With the wind blowing so hard, I got off the lake. I landed about 30 bass again the second day, all small. I fished from 6 AM till about 10 AM and got blown off the lake.

I then decided to go to Island lake to try to get out of the wind. I fished for an hour and did not even get a hit. It was still windy and I got tired fighting the boat. Overall, Nahwatzel is a great lake to fish, but the average is very small. There are some big bass in this lake, as I could see some nesting.
