My son and I arrived daybreak Sunday the 27th and the wind had already started and we knew the fishing would be limited.
Within the hour it was to windy to safely fish the lake in small boats. We only saw a couple of boats out on the lake and they were getting bounced around pretty good.
Fishing was slow when and where we could fish.
On a second note boat safety, there were numerous boaters that just do not use common sense.
#1. when the wind is that strong boats without motors should not be out in the middle of the lake. I seen numerous boats that had to be towed from the end of the lake. The wind pushed them all the way to the end of the lake. This can be very dangerous and if not for the numerous people out on the lake helping other boaters out.
#2. Pontoon boats, if you do not know how to steer, maneuver the boat, ask for help. We were anchored just around the bend from the boat launch and we were hit hard by a pontoon boat. The family had no idea how to maneuver the boat let alone in that kind of wind. I was tying a couple of leaders and had my head down and my son noticed them heading towards us. He yelled, i yelled and before we could pull anchor they rammed us. Lucky for us we were not out in the main area of the lake or we would have been swamped. The impact hit us just off the bow and knocked my son back toward me.
Common Sense folks, boating can be dangerous....Know your limits......
