A friend and I went out on Thursday 3rd at about 3:30. We sat on the fishing dock and used a worm and no weight and just tossed it out a few feet. We caught about 20 Yellow Perch and 7 Trout. Then we came back the next day (Friday) about the same time. Started to fish for Perch again but soon moved to the shaded part of the dock. We had so many fish!!!! Together we caught 110 crappie in about 2 1/2 hours. We used worms or green crappie jigs, you know little worm looking things. We just used a hook with one of those and no weight and dropped it down about 3 to 4 feet at the back side of the dock. Within a minute we were catching fish. When we were done we dumped them all out on the dock and the Eagles went crazy. We threw them all back and went home. Then we came back on Saturday and caught about 15 Perch. We tried again for Crappie at about 5:00 but it was not as good as the day before. We only got about 40 or so. It needs to be a little overcast for the Crappie to start biting. I hope this helps you on deciding where to go. PLEASE DON'T FISH OUT MY GOOD SPOT!!!! THANKS.

Looks like you may fish your spot out yourself...Remember only 10 crappie limit and they need to be 9 inches or bigger...Don't get busted!

What you did was not only illegal but your idea of fun is why fishing has died at many local lakes. You must retain or count as part of your limit ANY legal sized fish brought to hand. You are very fortunate that the local game enforcement wasn't there that day or you would have been fined heavily and possibly lost your rights to fish for two years. Need say I will be informing him when I see him this week and forward your washingtonlakes.com posting name so he can contact the web site to glean your email address to investigate.

Slow down and take a deep breath rubioloco. We don't hand out any kind of information to anyone, WDFW included, without a warrant. He could just need a helping hand with the regulations. The "standard" rules for Crappie are "No min. size. No daily limit".

BTW, a posting on a message board like this is just hearsay. Jake still has his right to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, which this isn't.

Well the "STANDARD" rules for Crappie as you say is "No Min. Size. No Daily Limit" ? But for Tanwax Lake in Pierce County is as reads from the Reg's,

TANWAX LAKE (Pierce Co.) CRAPPIE Last Sat. in Apr.-Oct. 31 Min. size 9". Daily limit 10.
Other Game Fish Last Sat. in Apr.-Oct. 31 Statewide min. size/daily limit.

This may not be a Court of Law, but if Jake would keep a copy of the Regs with his gear or at least read it before going to the Lake of his choice - he WILL realize what he was doing was ILLEGAL - although there may be STANDARD rules - those rules apply to lakes where there is no SPECIFIC notations for that specific lake. In this case there ARE specific rules and for crappie- the standard rule does NOT APPLY to this lake for crappie.

Muskyhunter & rubioloco are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT in thier voicing of illegalities of Jakes fishing - but Aaron is correct in the posting being "hearsay" - and it can never be proven in a court of law - however - Jake needs to be aware that while fishing, there are other anglers out there that WILL make a call to the Game Warden when they see illegal practices being done. Jake NEEDS TO READ THE REG'S and fish accordingly - or he could pay the price...losing rights to fish for two years would really be painful to a true angler.

I realize that the rules for Tanwax are not the Standard Rules and this had already been clearly pointed out by muskyhunter.

My statement was mainly focused on his threat of giving out his username to the WDFW... which is a threat that will go nowhere. The WDFW will not be able to get any information from us since it would violate our Privacy Policy. Bottom line here is that we, WL.com, have to stay impartial. He might have broken the rules but he still has a right to be a part of our community here and not feel threatened.

Let's education, not alienate.

that report made me sick to my stomach. why on earth would you waste so many fish? there are now 110 less fish in your favorite spot. you fall into the same category as the guys who leave their garbage on the shoreline and if i'd been a witness to that we would have had words.

Why would you drop them on the dock. You are a real dumb A** You just wasted all them Crappie & they are game fish. I hope you get BUSTED. What you did was ILLEGAL . If I was there to see that. I would have taken some pic's of you & your actions & called the Fish & game...

Ok well this is Jake the one who posted this and you all must not understand the story completely. Me and my friend did catch 110 crappie and we did put them all into a few buckets and we did dump them on the dock to count them , but most of them were still very alive when we put them back. There are always a few that die, like when they swallow the hook. So out of 110 fish only about 5 died and we gave those to people who were fishing on the dock. So we did not do anything bad. So you all need to chill out and worry about yourselves. And I know you are going to say " well we are worried about the fish" It ain't gonna hurt the population at all so get over it.
