My wife went with the BBs of BL to tackle the trout at Fishtrap--- we all limited-out; I experimented and strayed away from using the tried-and-true wedding ring lure, and caught trout using a Needlefish (a Needlefish!)

We were on the lake before the fish knew it; wisps of fog were rising off the still water as we cruised down the west side of the lake. In the distance, a pack (or group, or crash, or whatever---it was a bunch) of coyotes yodeled their greetings.

The sun peeked over the tree-lined basalt cliffs of the lake as we began heeding the dances of our fishing poles as the fish answered our lures. As usual, the fish seemed to line-up to our offerings; my wife quietly yanked her limit of trout before one of us BBs of BL--- I won't say which...

BAITS THAT WORKED: Maggot-inis and Power Bait
TYPES OF FISH WE CAUGHT: Trout and Silvers
LENGTH OF FISH: 13" to 18" (standard rules apply here)
WEIGHT OF FISH: We have GOT to get a weight scale onto the boat!!
TIME OF DAY: Morning, just at sun-up
LOCATIONS ON THE LAKE: West side of the lake, from the launch to about midpoint
LURES WE USED: Wedding rings and, NEEDLEFISH!
WEATHER CONDITIONS: Clear and cold at sunrise...
DEPTH: We fished at 10'
BOAT SPEED: Good flasher action for the wedding rings...
NUMBER OF PEOPLE ON THE LAKE: One other vehicle at the boat launch when we arrived; lots of people when we left (about 8:45 A.M.)

The whole fishing experience is great at Fishtrap--- friendly people, courteous boaters, and only those litterbugs to blemish an otherwise great morning. Thanks, WDFW.
