Hit the water at what we thought would be early, about 5 am, but we were late I guess. I have never seen SO MANY boats on North Lake, ever. B-no and I hit the water and tried trolling with wedding rings. Two years ago we caught over 50 fish each trolling on opening day but trolling was definitely not the way to go this year. After 2 hours of going in circles avoiding other boaters and only getting 1 hit each we anchored down near the public access side of the lake outside of the throwing reach of the land anglers. I used power eggs (white and yellow) and started catching almost instantly! All the catches were small and hadn't the fish swallowed the hook I would have thrown all back. Average fish was probably about 6 inches and we caught a total of 9. Not a bad opening day, but nothing like 2 years ago at this same lake. I think it may be a bit cold still.
