Bill and I were in the lake by 0900 hours and trolled to our favorite spot with one hookup and several hits. We fished chironomids for the next several hours and landed over 30 fish. Several were in the 20 inch range but most were 12 to 16 inches. The fish continue to be suspended from 2 to 10 feet of water regardless of the overall depth and water temps reached over 57 degrees. We anchored in 14 feet of water fishing towards a shelf at 11 feet. We used size 16's in light, med and dark olive and size 14 in the same colors. A 16 chromie worked best for me and matched most of our throat samples. A few bombers were coming off the water so we switched to a large size 8 and 10 and they worked too. But the best fly was Bill's CDC black lighting bug size 16 with a red tail. I lost count how many fish Bill landed with that bug. This bug has worked well on the Yakima but Pass Lake? Who would guess. Bill is almost always a little ahead of the curve and an innovated fly tier. This was a decent day to be on Pass Lake. Only one other boat. We were off the lake by 3pm because of other commitments. We really did not want to leave.
