Our crew hit West Medical at about 9:00 and fished until 3:00. At least 40 fish to net between the 3 of us, all rainbows, while fishing chironimids, leeches and various nymphs with barbless hooks. All were released unharmed. A full 30 of these fish were small, averaging about 12", the most small fish I've seen in West Medical in several years. The remaining 10 or so fish ran from 16-18" with the exception of Gator's 21" rainbow and mine at 23". It seemed that most of the smaller fish were in the shallows and the larger fish were in the deep water, 20 feet or more. This happened to me last year also....my first couple trips yielded mostly small fish but by mid-May we were getting more large than small.
