As with most of the lakes right now, Kress is stocked with a lot of trout. This is a small lake and is very popular. I was in a boat trolling and caught 6 Triploids along with many 8-10 inchers. All were released, as I do not like to eat hatchery raised trout.

I was trolling faster than the other boats and it appeared that I was catching more than others. I use very light line with an ultra-light rod. I use no weight on my line as this lake averages 10-12 feet deep. The newly stocked fish stay close to the surface, which is why the Ospreys work this lake all day. I actually had an Osprey go after a trout on the end of my line as it was splashing on the surface.

There is limited bank access at Kress, but beware when launching your little boat. The black top drops off at the lakes edge and the people do not seem to want to move to let you put a boat in. Good luck and get out and enjoy the thousands of trout the State has planted for our enjoyment.
