I wanted to take out the pontoon and this is as close as it gets to me. Probably 50 people fishing from the bank and maybe 6 other boats or float tubes out there. Trolled with a wedding ring and kept missing the strikes due to rowing. Switched to Rooster Tail and caught 3 little guys. Switched to dick nite spoons and caught 1 little guy. Switched to kastmaster and caught 2 little guys. Was releasing everything but decided to take home my limit. As it began to get dark switched to a bobber and a hook and worm and in about 10 minutes caught 5 including 3 that were 14 inch holdovers. I had one that got off but Im guessing he was all of 19. Big one got away I guess. One other float tube was doing okay with trolling flies but that bobber worm setup was instant fish. Could have caught 30 before dark if I would have stayed. Easiest and oldest setup there is but I still don't believe much works better for fish than that.

Sounds like trout fishing is pretty good just about everywhere that is open. Next weekend I am heading up to the San Juan Islands to fish the 3 private lakes at a Resort. Not going to be anywhere near the zoo that these lakes will be on opening day.

Good fishing.

Joe
