The lake was calm in some areas today but I was blown off by 3:30 pm.
I fished from 12:30 to 3 and didn't get a strike at all. I fished the west side of the mouth of the Cedar River, a park a mile south of Newport boat launch, and the Juanita-Waverly park area. I saw many small signals on the sonar and a very few large ones down in the Juanita area. I also saw what appeared to possibly be a school of kokanee at around 50' at juanita.
I have never caught a trout on this lake during the winter or early spring. I know that on many large lakes the large trout spawn in the rivers until March/April. Perhaps on Lake Washington the trout are up in the rivers and creeks until May.
The trout fishing was far better in the early 90's and so I'm wondering if trout were planted or if the lake is having some issues with trout populations decreasing.
I really like the photos of the cuts that were submitted in December.
