Rat was killed off several years ago, so I've been wanting to get over and see how it's doing. I wasn't sure if the ice had gone off yet, so I was relieved to see open water. Water temp. is a brisk 42. Lots of brush and cattails are chocking off the shoreline, so far fewer people are fishing here under the new regulations. Too bad, this was an excellent fishing lake with some very nice catches of big rainbows and browns.

Weather was warm and sunny for most of the week and little trouble catching fish anytime I went out. Fished a barbless homemade spinner and marshmallow and nightcrawler when I wanted to keep some to eat. I was disappointed in the size of the fish. Nothing larger than 12 inches, so either they only stocked fingerlings after the kill off or the fish aren't growing well. There is a decent population, so I'll have to check back here in the Fall.
