Well, I went out on American Lake this past Saturday on the 31st. My wife and I got there around 8:30am near the Beachwood entrance where the diving center and RV ground is. It had been many years since I last fished that part of the lake and the spot that I wanted access to didn't seem to exist anymore. In any case, we went out to the dock with a gazebo in front and cast out toward the middle-part of the lake. Good thing the gazebo was there because it was raining on and off for the most part of the morning. Trout marshmallows and powerbait didn't seem to interest the fish much. So we decided to move over to another part of American Lake where Shoreline beach is in Beachwood.

We got there around 12:00pm and I noticed that this area had changed a lot as well. Many blackberry bushes had grown along the shore so casting from places I used to fish from as a boy were pretty much non-existent. So we walked around the lake to where the walking/running trails are and looked for an open place from the shore to try our luck. Found a nice spot and tried out luck. Saw a few people fishing from the dock from the right side where we were and a few boats out there were trolling, too. I'm sure that they were having better luck than we were. But that's ok. My wife was dying to do some fishing and despite the cold, wet weather, she said she had a good time.

We'll go back to American Lake in a few weeks and hopefully more things (fishing technique-wise) will come back to me. And maybe then we'll get lucky and catch a trout or three each.
