Went out to American Lk. on Friday in search of Smallies. I fished the points, secondary points, dropoffs, and some shoreline structure to no avail. I was throwing a grub on a leadhead jig most of the day. I also tried a black hair jig with trailer, a Rat-L-Trap, worms and a jointed Rapala. Around 0800 I was casting to a point with my jointed Rapala and hooked into this nice Rainbow. He was 25" and tipped my scale at 5.7 lbs. He made the day. Shortly after I hooked into another nice Rainbow, but he came unbuttoned. That was the only action for the whole day. I haven't Bass fished this lake very much. I hope to find those Bronzebacks that I hear about. The weather was overcast in the morning giving way to sunny skies.
Fish On,
Rick
