I got to the lake about 1:00. It was the warmest day of the year so far and the sun was bright. Too bright for good fishing. I put in the canoe and paddled up the lake trolling a brown WB. A couple of boats were on the lake, some still fishing and some casting for bass.

No luck trolling so I anchored and cast for a bit. Nothing. After a couple hours of no activity I decided to pack it in. As I was approaching the boat launch I saw a swirl under the brush close to shore. I cast a muddler to the spot and was instantly into the one fish of then day, a nice cutthroat. Biggest fish I've caught here, but probably a recent plant. First good fish of the year for me, so I won't complain about a little thing. I'll be back. Offut is a pleasant lake to fish.
