OK, here is the latest report. Things are definitely slowing down. WDFG stocked 29 winter steelhead into the lake, and a fortunate few were able to take them, myself included. By the third day, though, a lot of them had died or become unedible. If you are fishing for food, put most of your effort into plunking or drifting powerbait close to, or on the bottom. I was out on the lake, and had moderate success on lime green and rainbow. The trout are hitting light, so it might be best to hold your rod so that you can detect those light bites. Fishing for the cutthroats has stopped almost dead, and only those caught by accident are being taken. Once word had gotten out that they were in the shallows last week, we saw a lot of people using water bobbers and flies. Congratulations to those who were able to take fish. On the other hand, I dispise snagging, no matter if you use a treble hook or a Kastmaster. For those who fish this way, be warned that the Game wardens are now watching the swimming area very closely thanks to your unethical fishing methods. Any reports of snagging will be investigated by WDFG personell, and you will get caught. They are really cracking down on illegal angling practices on this lake so fish smart. Good luck and Tight Lines!
