The family and I spent the day trolling with downriggers at 60 feet today. We were using a combination of flashers with worms and white corn. The lake was unusually calm with a weather front moving in. Many water skiers and jet skis were causing quite a commotion around us but we managed to dodge them and keep our cool. In roughly four hours of fishing we managed to bring nine fat kokanee to the boat that averaged 12 inches in length. They were very aggressive fighters, my 13 year old son had a blast reeling them in. The key is to get your bait down to this depth right now. The water is 75 degrees and the fish are not near the surface. I marked BIG schools of fish in over 100 feet of water right on the bottom. Next time I'm going to try some "jigging" for them in deep water. But the fishery is almost done for the year as these fish are obviously ready to spawn. The females that we caught were full of roe. Better hurry, probably another two or three weeks and the kokes will be done for the season. Tight lines!
