After leaving Roosevelt Wed. I had returned to Steamboat Rock St Pk. that evening the rains began, DRAT!!. Thurs morning it was still raining lightly. My friend arrived and we decided to put up the canvas top on the LUND and go out anyway. I was pretty late , about 0930. I launched at the Pk launch and motored out th the main lake. It was rainy, cold and windy. I fished some just west of Steamboat Rock and was hoping I wouldn't have to go further. I figured that the walleye action was not to be, so I went back to what I used up at Roosevelt the day before for rainbows. Even though the water was pretty rough I headed off for an area by the Million Dollar Mile. It wasn't long before several strikes were registered. Again the goal was to safely release the fish caught so quite a few got off. still the seven caught were really nice ranging from 16" to around 24" and boy were they fat! Soon a new front took charge and some good waves resulted. While we could have fished further, we decided that this day was a true gift and headed in. near the sheltered launch there were several boats catching some crappie I was told.
