Hit the water at 9:30. Lots of sun with light winds and water temp at 56. Noticed chironimids on the surface but elected to fish stillwater nymphs and leech patterns. After 45 minutes and zero takes I wizened up and switched to chironimids. The next 45 minutes yielded 5 takes with 3 fish to net. All takes were subtle and all fish seemed lethargic and fought poorly despite cooler temps. The hatch and the feed then ended. I should have gone to chironimids earlier! I then fished another two hours with nymphs and leeches without result. Two other gents left skunked after 3 hours. It was slow for all today but at least the weather cooperated! Will return, next time in the evening.
