Finally got to fish this lake with fishing buddy Bob Johansen. We hit the new launch at 6:15am and I must say they did a great job. So we finally have boat access to a famous bass lake long left difficult to access. The lake is non-stop prime bass water. Reminds me a lot of Silver in Cowlitz county although not as dirty water. We started fishing across from the ramp and went all the way around the island. Not one fish did we stir up. By 9:30 I was seriously thinking of bailing to a different lake (this sounds familar). Bob left it up to me, and I figured "what the heck, we came to fish this lake, let's keep working it". So we decided to run to the south end and work the west shore back to the ramp. I should say, amble - you don't want to run on this lake. Even with a jet, I remained cautious. The stumps are everywhere and many are just below the waterline waiting to get you. Anyway, as we continued on I decided to try something different and tied on a deep diving plug. One that I didn't care if I lost, because I figured with all the stumps I would loss it. Meanwhile, Bob got the skunk out of the boat with a small rock bass caught on a spinner. I started casting and immediately hoked into the monster of the day, a 12 inch largemouth. I couldn't have been more pleased. We each caught one more little bass a piece and called it a day at noon. Without a doubt we'll be back. This lake has some big fish, I'm sure, and I can hardly wait to pound it again. Beautiful lake, only downside is the loud gravel pit on the east side of the lake.
