Decided to try a little evening fishing so since Horseshoe Lake is just down the road a few miles I drove there. Arrived around 6:30pm, launched and headed for the North end of the lake.
I found some calm water along the NW side, along with a down tree laying in the water. I started with my trusty spinner along the docks and around the tree. I then moved along the lilly pads. Finally hooked and landed an 11" LMB. Released the fish and worked around the lake. No more bites.
Finally as dusk was falling over the lake I went back to the downed tree and started using a popper. Over the next 20 minutes I caught and released another 3 LMB. They seemed to like the surface lure as the sun went down.
Found my way back to the launch and got out around 8:30pm.
