Got to lake at about 12 noon. first few casts and a nice size fish hit and missed my buzz bait and would not hit a follow up lure so decided to throw slower buzz type soft frogs. Had a few nice ones on but couldn't land them. Went back to the first place that the first first showed itself and had a tremendous strike about 15 foot from the boat in the lily pads so set the hook with all my might and the line started to peel off my reel. after see-saw battle in the lilypads I managed to get her out of the thick stuff but the battle was not over. As I was bringing her around to the clear side of the boat she made one last attempt to head for cover and went under my boat with the line burning on the bottom side of my aluminum boat. After a few thumpings on the bottom of the boat I got her back out from under the boat and managed to lip land her and put her in the livewell. After recouping from the battle with a few deep breaths I weighted her and she scaled out to be right on at 8 lbs. Needless to say I releashed her at the launch with a picture taken by Mark Groings (hope I spelled his name right) P.s. Mark also caught a large bass at 7 lbs on August 13 (see fish report) Water temp was in the high 70s and low 80s.
