Can some one please explain to me, how it is I can post a picture on the reports section............no problem, and the same picture same file etc will not post on the bass forum. IMO every post and or report can only be more enjoyable with pictures. This site is very hard to post pictures on...........and confusing........... how is it that it works on one part of it but not the other?????

Are you getting an error message or is it just not showing up?

Are the pics not loading at all, is there an error msg, or are they posting as links instead of pics?

It has to be pretty big to be denied by the forum... and less than 250-300k to actually display as a pic instead of a link.

Just a few tips for the report pictures. Keep them small, under 200K. Keep the file name short, to just a word or two. Add the pics last and all should be ok. I haven't had any issues once I started using those guidelines. Once in a while, though, I forget and have to ask Mike to add them afterwards.

To be even more clear...............here is the cut and paste message..............You cannot attach files that big.

So again I ask how is it loading on reports and not on discussion boards????????

Those two areas of the web site use different 'programs'. Or some such thing. This problem as been asked before. So, to post the same picture in a thread, you'll have to resize the pictures smaller. I don't know what the max size is.

Maybe this will help... when I download photos off my camera I usually put them in a folder, and create a folder within that folder called "web". I then copy all the photos into that folder (preserving the originals in the main folder) and downsize them all to around 150k, and 1024x768 max resolution. Doing so gives you copies of the photos that can be used in most places on the web.

I made allowances for large files when I wrote the report code, but the forum was not written by me and I have no plans on altering the code. Many cameras will take large photos in the realm of 1-5MB each.. this is great if you want to get actual photos printed on paper, but completely overboard for web usage.

Just easier to not I guess..............Looking forward to an upgrade in ability to post pic's. Until then the majority of my info just needs to be posted elsewhere. Great site here..............just every time a guy tries to post pic's it works or doesn't. I tried e=mailing pic to myself to resize still wouldn't load still to big...........really that is a lot of @#%$#@ for nothing easier to tell the complete story elsewhere.

Took less then 5 minutes to type and download report here.............http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/washi ... ost1885683

Really same files that loaded in reports.......not main board. So really the truck part might be of interest to the bass guys and I hope to load the dink picture on the dink post.

This site is just to inconsistent on what it will allow me to post(picture wise). Everytime it is a new process that may or may not work. Same camera same files etc.

Just check the size of each picture you want to post. Either resize to 800 max pixels on the 'long leg' x whatever the other 'leg' will be that is smaller, say 800 x 500. Then check the total pixels and save the picture with a lower quality so that it's under 30,000 total pixels. Then it'll be big enough to see good, and small enough to load as a picture instead of a link. And load fast and people with dialup, or slow computers, won't have to wait forever for it to load.

fishnazzi, i understand your frustration. I too have had trouble in the past with picture loading until I took the time to understand it. Like Aaron said, the forum is a generic program that restricts picture sizes of more than 150k. The report pictures are uploaded into a program that resizes the pics automatically for web capability from your browser. To get around all of this and avoid any frustration I have had a photobucket page for years and when you upload your photos into there it automatically resizes them for web page compatibility. Plus you now have a cool site that stores your pics and you can organize and manage them quick and easily. Check my photobucket link in my signature for my pics page.
When I want to post pics on the forum for viewing I copy the [img] code off photobucket and paste to the post I am making. Without having to add an attachment.
Hope this helps. And stay positive bro, it is just a small inconvienance on a site that offers so much.

or simply get both sides of this forum on the same page..........if it loads on one it should load on the other.

Although it seems like it should be simple, if you've ever written programming code then you know there is nothing simple about it. From experience, I'd say that resizing photos is easier.

Aaron - how do you downsize them? I would really like to borrow your process.

Look to see what programs are on your computer. Such as 'Paint'. The program I use is 'Image Expert'. It was on the computer when I bought it.

Chose any large picture, save a copy, then try resizing the copy so you don't lose/screw up a good picture.

Right click on a picture, look for the sentence 'open with', put the curser on those words, you may have to left click on those words. Then try a couple of those programs.

Reigndawgs - Your question comes up from time to time and there are several threads with a ton of suggestions. The last time this came up, someone suggested using a program called,"Shrink-O-Matic". I did a search on this program, found it, downloaded it and I must say it works great. The wife uses it now exclusively and I bet you'd find it to your liking.
Here is the link to the download site, it's freeware!
