Suggestion: Best/Biggest fish for members/blogs

Post by MikeFishes » Wed Jun 23, 2010 6:51 pm

Okay, here's an idea for the site. I've enjoyed reading and seeing people posting about their biggest fish in the forums. Why not have something like that on the blogs? What I'm envisioning is something that is shared in their public profile and can be aggregated in lists. This is how I think it would work:

There would be a page where the user can put in their details of their biggest fish. Things like Species, length, girth, weight, lake/river/marine area (segregated by county, state if you want to expand beyond wa). They could enter in one (or more, depending on if you want to keep historical data) per species. Once the user has entered at least one there would be a link to their list on their public profile and blog. It could actually be incorporated so there's no additional page.

Now, once the data is available you could have lists of the biggest catches by species, county, state, etc. including photos. I would be inclined to make that it's viewable only by members. Also, since it's a Members only list, there would be less likelihood of needing a BS meter. But, I'm not saying that people aren't going to pad the numbers a bit. :-"

Anyhow, that's my annual idea. See you next year. :geek:

I'll forward this thread to Aaron. He would need to code a new database page for it. It's a good idea.
