A correct oil mixture for an old "64 Evinrude 51/2 hp

Post by WN9045LG » Mon Jul 16, 2007 5:22 pm

What would be a correct oil mix for an old "64 Evinrude" ? I'm mixing 5 gallons at a time so I don't want to over do it. All help would be appreciated, thanks.

Every thing I can find says they went to 50:1 in '64. Be sure to use OB oil and not oil for air cooled engines. Air cooled runs a lot hotter and burns off the heavier oil. You can probably buy one of theose little bottles of evinrude oil to mix 5 gals at a time, or is that 6....... anyway OB oil only. fouled plugs are no fun on the water.
