Another great meeting last night. Presentation was great. Learned a few things I did not know about as far as trailer upkeep and boat requirements. Have a few things to do before we go out again. Great to finally get to meet Craig. I'll have those hats done for you soon.
Craig,
You said you needed pictures for the website, do they have to have a musky in them?

RE:Cascade Musky Association
Made it out tonight. Was great, sunny, light breeze, warm. Just the two of us. Then the freeking bright yellow hydro showed up... Again, passed by us within 50 ft at 60+ [-x just off Dike 4, He was launching from a community launch due west from the "3 Logs".
The rest of the evening was great, mostly quiet and only a hand full of other boats. No fish caught. Unfortunatley Ellen and I first musky, was washed up close to the rocks in the swimming area. Looked to be within the last day or so. Gullet was ripped out and an eye were the only visible signs of injury. Looked to be 32in to me. A resident walking by thought 34in. Talked for a bit and one of his friends, also residents, said they caught a 52 and 53 last summer:-$ I hope they were right, would sure like that to be my second musky:cheers:

RE:Cascade Musky Association
Not much to report on the meeting front. Our open tourney for Newman and Silver
will be the weekend of the 30th and 31st.
Cascade Musky Association is hosting this event. I'm attaching the flyer for this event. This is a low-key, low entry fee, fun tourney designed to get east side musky fishermen, bass and walleye and any other kind of fishermen involved. This is a non-transport and 100% catch & release tournament.
Randy Osborne with the WDFW will be acting as 'judge' in a judge boat for this event. He will also be hoping to gather other infomation from all muskies caught.
CMA will be mostly staying at the Aaa Inn in Cheney, Wa and the 'Potluck Supper' will be Sat evening and everyone is welcome to participate. Just bring a dish to pass. If your spouse is interested in attending, please bring them along also. Camaraderie is the name of the game so if you like to fish, spend time with others with the same interests and share stories, you've come to the right place. Any questions at all, give me a holler.
UPDATE: I made reservations at the Aaa Inn in Cheney, Wa for the weekend of May 30, 31st. The nite's of May 29th & 30th. There were 8 rooms available. There are 3 left. Each room has one(1) full bed and a bathroom. There is parking with power available and it's within 5 miles of Silver Lk. It will also keep us together for the Sat eve pot luck.
Oh yeah, bring a dish to pass. And a plate, cup, napkin and silverware.
I reserved all 8 rooms but would like you folks to let me know how many rooms you want so I can keep track. I'll need to let the owner know in case we don't use them all. The sooner the better folks. Thanx.
The cost is $44.95 per nite.
First come - first serve.
Let me know ASAP.
UPDATE: Commemorative T-Shirts will be available for purchase through Rich & Ellen McVey at this event. If you need a size small or anything larger than XXL, let us know via a comment under this post. The T-Shirts will be black w/White lettering and logo. Cost is $15.00 each.
Newman Lake Resort has offered their docks, and grounds to host the awards. We'll be able to tie up to the many docks they have and there is a store available to anyone needing something to eat or drink.

maybe he got hit by a prop or something...I saw a pretty good sized Muskie washed up on the shore on Tapps Is. yesterday. Looked to be around 40"-42". didn't have any injuries either. I've heard of a guy out here that fishes for bass and incidentally hooks muskies from time to time and when he gets them to the boat, he slashes them with his knife to kill them. If I ever see this guy out here doing this, I'll notify you and you can take appropriate steps to stop this clown from repeating this horrible offense. Keep up the good work Muskie club!

RE:Cascade Musky Association
From what we saw, Im doubting if it was a boat injury. If you see any suspicious activity, try to take a picture of it and hand it over to the Pierce County Sheriff or the WDFW. There are a number of bad characters outthere with bad intent toward the Muskys and were working hard to report any violaters we come across.Denman wrote:RaMcVey wrote: Gullet was ripped out and an eye were the only visible signs of injury.

RE:Cascade Musky Association
What a great weekend. The weather was great. Nice breeze kept the temps in check.
While no fish were brought onto our boat, Ellen and I both had lures in their mouths, just to watch them spit it out at boatside. Ellen had one breach the surface chasing her lure as she pulled it out of the water. Snuck up from under the boat.
We all stayed at the same place in Cheney and had a potluck dinner afterwards on Saturday.
All I could think about on the 5 hour drive home was getting to Tapps and putting the boat in. Bring on the next Tourney!!!

Quote from Mark Wells:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The results for the 1st Annual Cascade Musky Association Tiger Musky 2-Fer Tournament are in.
First off I want to thank everyone for coming. Great turn out, great weather and one hell of a great time.
Another thank you to Field Custom Designs for the donations for the winners to go along with their cash. Thanx Rich & Ellen.
Another thank you to Randy Osborne and his son Blaze for donating their time and boat to be the official judge for the event. Thanx Randy & Blaze.
We're going to take you up on your offer for next year. You'll need a new t-shirt by then. LOL
24 musky fishermen and women participated.
12 boats.
6 muskies over the 30" minimum were registered and released to fight another day.
A few undersize were also caught and released and another few good fish were involuntarily released just prior to being netted. Better luck next time folks.
1st place: Mark Wells - - - 34"x15" Silver Lk, Saturday
38 3/4"x15" Newman Lk, Sunday
2nd place: Jeff Volz - - - 32"x11 1/4" Silver Lk, Sat
35"x13 1/2" Newman Lk, Sun
3rd place: Jeff Newman - -37"x14" Silver Lk
4th place: Craig Bukowski - 34"x13" Silver Lk
The double option was split 60/40 between Jeff Volz and myself.
There was no triple caught so the triple option money was raffled off between those that played the triple option.
Thanx to Ducktail Lures, Charlies Leaders, Auburn Sports and a few other generous sponsors, our raffle went well also.
A big thank you to the CMA members for all their hard work as a team for a very successful event.
Check out: http://cascademuskyassociation.com/ for pics of the event and for upcoming events.
Looking forward to it again next year.

RE:Cascade Musky Association
July 25th, Mayfield Lake CMA Members Tournament Results
Cascade Musky Association's member musky tournamnet on Mayfield Lake went off without a hitch Saturday and a new record was set for total number of muskies caught in a day or tournament in WA for that matter.
Twelve(12)CMA members joined forces to register Eleven(11) muskies Sat, Jul 25 and released alive to thrill another day. This just goes to show the quality of anglers within the ranks of Cascade Musky Association.
Ducktail Lures reigned supreme as 9 out of 11 muskies were caught on various lures from the Ducktail Lures line of tackle. Check out:
http://ducktaillures.com/
The tournament was a split day event with the morning running from 6am-11am with a potluck lunch at member Josh Kline's place and going back out at 3pm til 8pm with the awards following back at Josh's place.
Sharing time with great folks is what's it's all about and this weekend was no exception. We had a blast.
Thanx a lot Josh for your hospitality.
Thanx to everyone that participated.
1st Place - Mark Wells
42"x21", 41.5"x20.5" & 39.5"x19.5" - 123"
2nd Place - Todd Reis
31.5"x12" & 38.5"x18" - 70"
3rd Place - Mike Floyd
30.5" & 32" - 62.5"
4th Place - Kathy Burnaman
44"x18.5"
5th Place - Craig Bukowski
41"x20.5"
6th Place - Marshall Borson
30.5"x12"
7th Place - Lee Burns
30"
That's a total of 401" of musky in a single day tournament with just twelve(12) participants.
Many other fish were moved an a few others threw some lures back but oh well, that's musky fishing.
Had it not been for the fact that four(4) of the participants had to leave after the first half of the day, these figures might be much higher and the standings much different.
Thanx to everyone again.
I'm looking forward to the CMA member tourney in Aug at Merwin Res.
If this is your kind of fishing with lots of camaraderie thrown in, check out:
