your favorite rod/ reel

for freshwater i have two set ups. my favorite is a 7ft Quantum Afinity with a Abu Garcia Cardinal 102. I also use braided line on it.

for saltwater bottom fishing i like using a Pinnacle Coastal something 20 baitcaster on an 8'6" Berkely Lightning, but for bottom fishing everyone in the boat kind of all shares rods and reels.

For salmon, its different. We all have our own gear. My favorite belongs to my dad, but he lets me use it sometimes. Its a red Abu Garcia trophy edition (6500 size, but thats not what its called) on a 8'6" fenwick something. My own salmon combo is an C4 Abu Garcia Ambassueder 6500 on a 8'6" berkely lightning. i got it last year for my birthday.

That is a tough one without specifing the type of fishing envolved. I regret I can't say I am a standout fisherman, but I do have one heck of a decent collection of rods and reels. Since the majority of fishing I do here in WA is for Salmon, I will pick my favorite for this type of fishing.... By far not the most expensive or conventional set up I own, but for some reason my favorite. It is a 8'6" Diawa Interline rod with Diawa Millionare reel I use for bank fishing. I am tickled with the action of the rod, and I can't seem to get a birdsnest even if I wanted to. Casting distance is never a problem also. Maybe one of the reasons I enjoy it is it gets lots of looks, and some odd comments now and then. I even had one old guy look it over and say "Son, why did you go and have a custom rod made, but pick it up before they had a chance to put the line guides on?"

Nice! I used a Diawa rod for years with my Ambasador. Caught lots of fish and I got the comments too. "you spend so much time out here, why don't you get good rod.". It is..........o:)

Shimano reels and Berkley rods. I love 5'6" to 7' depending on the fish. Pan fish, it has to be ultra light and I even have a 5 foot deal.

My favorite pick up has been a Shimano Slade 2500 reel with a 6'6 Berkley Lightning Rod with light/medium action. The reason it is my favorite pick up is because the KMART made a snaffoo and the reel which I have bought before for 39.99 was on sale for $7 and the rod which I have seen for 29.99 was on sale for $6. I got a walleye set up for $13 bucks. Where I am from that is a value.

Those Berkley Lightning Rods are tough. I had one in my top rack on my boat. My 100 lb lab stepped on it and bent it all the way to the floor (rod ends were still in the slots) and it didn't break.

I honestly believe this, you don't have to spend a ton of money to find something that catches fish.
