FLW California Delta

Post by ChrisB » Fri Mar 14, 2008 11:01 am

Don't we all wish we were there right now. Ron Hobbs Jr is doing pretty good in this tournament. Check the standings, and catch the live weigh-in online. I was watching it last night, its pretty cool. A guy from our club is fishing as a co-angler. He got skunked day 1, and caught 4 fish for over 10 lbs day 2. Thats got to be fun. Check it out, definetly bookmark the page.

The live weigh-ins are sooooo much better this year on FLW. I havent seen the stren yet but on the Tour they have a list of your fantasy team already loaded to you can see who is doing what during in real-time.

When I talked to Ron last year at OE after he had just got back from the delta he said he figured it out the day after the tournament so hope he is putting that knowledge to use.

BIG fan of the panic minnow drop shot!

EDIT to add:

BTW Justin Lucas is the man! One of the best co-anglers out of the west. Last year he won back to back $25,000 at Columbia river and Clear lake, ca. He got a top 5 in the East West fish off at Amistad earlier this year and NOW...

Looks like he caught big fish of the day on the delta.

Damn that is a PIG!

I hope Ron Hobbs continues to do good and represents WA well. Looks like there are a couple of WA guys doing alright in the standings.

Pretty cool looking dropshot "panic minnow", I might have to order a pack. Has anyone tried it?

Yes I use them and they work great. Different types and colors for all applications.

Ron Hobbs (by the way) uses them and is in 9th place in the flw series at the delta right now!

When i was drop shotting back in the day (last year lol) I used them. I like putting 2x on one line - make it look like a tiny school of baitfish.

I am more partial to their "swim" line but thats just my style.

Panic Minnows are awesome if you are willing to drop some coin for them. My first pack I got for free, and I never thought a bait 2 inchs could catch em that good.
Ron Hobbs is doing awesome, one more day ! I'm pissed I missed the weigh-in. I can't believe I forgot when I got home from work.

For you guys who haven't heard we've got two Washington anglers who made the top 10 cut today.

In 9th place Kelly Kellogg. Weights: Day 1 21-05, Day 2 18-05, Day 3 28-09

In 10th place Ron Hobbs Jr. Day 1 21-01, Day 2 20-02, Day 3 25-15

Dave Kromm of Kennewick finished like 17th with 9-01, 30-04!, 22-12

I am SUPER PUMPED for Ron. He is a good friend of mine. It's nice to see the other Washington guys do well also

If he can put together a 30lb bag he's got a good shot at the whole thing. I say that and read what I just wrote and try and image a 30lb bag. Has anyone around here caught a 30lb. bag before? Can you imagine? One of those fish are a fish of a lifetime for average bass anglers.
No matter what happens he is representing WA well and will be walking a way with a nice check.

The weigh-in was awesome today! Ron did well taking home $18,000 for 6th place. Ken Wick held the hot seat for a while and takes home $28,000.

Brett Hite wins today This makes his second win of the season with his first win this year at Lake Toho for the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Open. He said he had a chatter style bait on for both tournaments with a swimming senko trailer. Same rod, reel and lure and now $125,000 in his bank account.

The show will air April 20th on FSN. Ron, Kelly and Ken should get plenty of air time.

1 $125 HITE, BRETT 79-02 (15) 27-09 (5) 106-11 (20)

2 $47 EHRLER, BRENT 83-11 (15) 18-06 (5) 102-01 (20)

Ron Hobbs Jr did an awesome job, coming from behind with consistant catches, and moving up everyday. Great job Jr. Glad to see the Washington guys up there on the leaderboard, especially one of my prostaff! One hell of a fisherman, and can catch them no matter where he is at.......

wow, i heard stories from my fishing partner about this hobbs guy. we pass his home everytime we go to fish at clear lake (in graham/eatonville). he tells me his son and hobbs were good friends in high school and fished together. most of the time we pass his house at 6am and his boat isn't there.
