Sidley lake ice fishing derby

Post by gpc » Tue Feb 05, 2008 2:57 pm

Is anyone going to get in the derby? I have never acctually ice fished, but I am going to be not too far from sidley on that weekend so I was thinking about going and checking it out. $20 to get in and 1st place gets a brand new fishing canoe.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Sidley lake looks like its about as close to canada as you can get. I cant rember how thick they said the ice was but I think they said 10" with 12" of snow on top of that. Yeah I am going to be at Rufus that weekend and I think it will take about an hour and a half if the conditions are right. My buddy used to go there a lot when he was younger and said it takes about 5.5 - 6 hours. In the snow I would tack at least another hour on the trip, if not more.
