Think it's too deep to cross anywhere near confluence. I think you could walk down from the bogy maybe till you find shallows to cross. Uh are you thinking about the same ponds I am? Cause you can't get to the ponds from la push road.

The ponds that you have to walk to from the Bogy hatchery. The guys on the other side were riding quads. Unless there are more than one ponds I am pretty sure we are talking about the same ponds.

Well yeah, but the ponds are a good ways up the trail from the bogy parking lot. The ponds you're talking about, its a long stretch of frog water right? The water up at the ponds is hardly moving at all.

Yeah then turns a corner into a hole then splits into 2 around an island where it becomes fast water, as the river takes that corner, theres a ravel/sand bar on the north side of the river, that what I am trying to get to.

In town, on thw east side of Forks, there is a store ( i think maybe Ace Hardware) that sells maps. They have a nice tackle selection, including maps that show many if not all the logging roads in that area. Good luck.

Oh, yeah, you gotta wade across at the rapids. Or go up to the hatchery intake and try to find a spot to cross up there.

Yeah I am going to wade the rapids Sunday, tried for a few hours today and not much going on, saw some swimming around but they were so spooked by all the people do I tried leyendecker and missed a nice bobber down and that was it for the night. All the gates to tall timbers were locked and closed so we tried goodman mainline for a little.

Looks like I'm not missing out. Haha, yeah figured tall timbers was closed. Heard it was cause of too much littering.

Yeah I would say so, gonna be heading out here soon for a second try, nice little sprinkle going on in forks right now hopefully it brought some fish in.

Well today was a little better other than there being 10 cars in the parking lot by 7am. I saw 3 on the beach, all in front of the hatchery creek, and a few rolling around. I did however pull the trigger to soon on a solid bobber down but that happen to be all the action I got for the day.

You mean there are no fish at all in the Calawah right? Summer run? What summer run? Haha kidding, but sounds like things are slowly getting better. I hope to make it out there at the beginning of July.

Nothing really same with all the other rivers that I checked, I wouldn't waste my time going there on a weekend that's for sure haha. Is it true that they aren't stocking the sol Duc anymore for summer runs?

Haha yeah I skip weekends out there. The Sol Duc? Last I heard they were still stocking it. Last year They stocked it with...Er I mean no there are no fish in there at all. Not at, all. Haha nah but i think they still stock it.

I read somewhere that with that wild fish management thing that they are going to cut both hatchery winter and summer steelhead

They stocked it for this year. They ended the Snider Creek program. If WDFW had their way, they'd end all hatchery programs, it's just easier to start far away from Seattle.

A weekend on the OP is better than a weekend at Reiter any day. I wouldn't complain. Where there are fish there are fishermen, most folks have jobs i.e. weekends are when they fish.

The gate you guys are talking about is closed. You'd have to walk. Also, I recently went down to the sol duc to the sandy rock hole and it was just me and some local guy talking about the fishing at the Forks rivers and he said "No offense...but the out-of-towners are just screwing it up. I don't even fish that river anymore." I may not live IN Forks...but I do live on the OP and my car must have screamed "NOT FROM FORKS"! Apparently you are only accepted by some as a legit fisherman on those rivers if you live within the confines of town? Do they have any clue how much money fishermen bring to that place? How many jobs they create? Some of the "snoody" ones should be a little more grateful!

Yeah no kidding I had this local dude see me walking down the trail to a hole on the Calawah purposely wade to where I was going to fish and then I waded down stream of him and he decides to cast at the same time as me and told me I had no river etiquette, I was like WTF not only is it downstream first but he purposely waded downstream. Funny thing was that he got snagged up and lost all his gear haha, normally I like locals but geez they can be dicks same with the cowlitz, I know I'm not like around my local rivers.
