Today's haul at skook, one chromer one a little dark.

Took the advice and tried beads, they ate that ish up! Seems slower than it was last week, saw a guy had his limit at the deadline and another limit next to us. Couple other guys had one fish a piece.

The hen put up a long fight, if you've fished the corner hole. Hooked her near the ripples, ran all the way up into the calm water then back down. At least 7 mins to get er in

0-3 today just down from the hatchery. Hooked the first one on a nightmare, looked like a small hen but pretty shiny from what I saw. Spit the hook after about 30 seconds.

second one was on a gold little cleo. I never saw it; it ran up, then down, then back up again, then towards the far bank where it spit the hook.

Third one was awesome, big and very chrome. Saw it flashing in the current, and it took me a couple casts to get in front of it. It charged upstream 5 feet to get that pink worm (with a dropper bead/hook) floating towards it. Soon as the worm disappeared I set the hook. Instantly launched out of the water a couple feet, came at me for a split second then headed towards the big pool on the other side of the river. Second time it came out of the water it broke my leader, sending my pink worm flying 20 feet down the river. Best part was convincing the guy 50ft upriver that I had hooked it on a pink worm. Talking to him earlier he swore he would never buy or fish one.

Still no fish in the freezer, but a good day for me nonetheless, and a lot better than I have been doing down there. Progress!

On a down note, I found a couple of carcasses, missing only the filets. With 2 pairs of skeins sitting in the dirt next to them. (one pair was nearly 16" long!!!) Too nasty to pick up, smelled like they had been there a couple days.

Can't fathom why someone would waste great bait like that.

The hen one of the other fisherman had caught was bright chrome, along with the big one I hooked. Saw quite a few rollers while I was there, some bright but mostly dark. Maybe this storm will bring some fresh fish in.

I can tell you why. Because 50% of the skook fishermen make a living snagging/flossing dark steelhead in the shallow water or at the boundary, and have no use for such baits. Haha. :thumbdown

Only been there off and on for the last three months (my first year fishing rivers) but I can agree with that. Just keeps getting lower and lower from what I've seen. Last few trips down I've been spotting new snags I'ld not seen in the past. Most with lots of gear on them.

Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!! water finally went up ! From what ive heard you can fish the river even if its blown. So it dosent really matter. This "should" push some fresh fish into the system.

Wow, must have gotten some serious rain down there, it's gone up a foot and a half today. Thats the highest I've seen it since I started watching the gauge a few months ago.

Definitely primed to get some fresh fish in!
