Re: Duwamish
Yes they are. Went in yesterday bout noon . Im 80% sure. I fished the Duwie yesterday. Fish were jumping everywhere. Had a couple hits. I took 2 kids and a father fishing. The kids were a girl 8 yo and the son was 12. Wow taking kids fishing is alot of work. I got home cleaned a silver bout 2-4 lbs at most.I now have a soft spot for you parents who take your children fishing. LOL...
Re: Duwamish
i learned real quick once i got a boat that fishing from shore was a lot easier to do when taking my kid, its almost just a waste of time taking him on the boat if we plan to actually try and catch fish.. fishin is one thing but actually trying? tough as heck!racfish wrote:Yes they are. Re: Duwamish
I hear ya OS. I wasnt even gonna do the boat trip. Not yet. We were banking on the Duwie. In Allentown its always been a trip. We had Drunks and homeless under the bridge. They were cussing and being very loud and crude in front of the kids. I almost called the police to rid them from the spot. The boy and girl fought all day. Im glad I never fought with my siblings .
Re: Duwamish
Rac you do more tying then fishing as an adult lol still I do more tying my wifes lines then fishing my son is finally starting to want to learn the knots I use. and it doesn't stop there let them catch fish and you catch yours then cleaning them all... A lot of work to say the least but well worth it on the looks of there face's.

Re: Duwamish
As far as nets in the Duw, I think people have said the Duw is a mostly weekday net schedule meaning from Noon Sunday thru Noon Friday (I think).
Yep, it can be a bit (OK a lot sometimes) of work trying to get little ones up and running with fishing. My daughter's attention span can be pretty short when the fish aren't biting.
Dicinu- good to hear your son is starting to take the next steps (like tying knots LOL)!
I pray for the day my daughter asks that...

Re: Duwamish
i have seen pics of the nets in in front of the spokane st bridge and down by the power lines before boeing..
when they are in do the net multiple spots or do they only get one location?
I was thinking about an afternoon boat mission this week sometime.. can I get around the nets easily?

The Muckelshoot fishing info line is: 1-800-347-4669. The guy providing the updates is practically unintelligible so you may need to listen to the recording a few times to get it straight.

Re: Duwamish
Thanks for the info. I think I'll steer clear til the weekend. I've seen the nets in there before, & they were pretty thick.

Re: Duwamish
Holy Duw racfish, they can net all the way to 167? Yeesh. Didn't realize that.
No wonder the fish are known to be tightlipped in the lower river. That's not much time for the fish to get settled for those trying to get to the biters if nets are in Sunday thru Friday noon to noon. Spooked fish.
I'm hoping to get out there for short trips at least once or twice in coming couple weeks.

Re: Duwamish
Sept 16 this Sunday the river opens up . I'll be able to fish areas that wont be hard on my knee. I plan on the Green Sunday and Banks lake on Saturday. The Green is good for me. Its close of a drive and I know the river well.

Re: Duwamish
BTW ARK mentioned on a report thread that the nets are out of the river until Sunday and someone PMd me the same info earlier in the day so think it is reliable info. Would have hoped the coho would be better biters if the nets have been out all this time? Ah well, won't have the chance to find out real soon. Good luck to those that can get out.

Re: Duwamish
Nice job losaturn!
Was hoping to go to work early (swingshift) for weekend OT today myself but found out yesterday from buddy that they hired new people to cover the area I was lent to work OT on weekends. It is RIGHT on the Duw :-(. My regular workplace is away from the river but I go close by it on way end. Stuck at home with chores instead this weekend and not headed north for any errands so get to spend the time playing with the young one (so it's all good).
Hoping to pull an islandbass soon and get a couple short pre-work shots to the river this week probably around Tukwila so glad to hear you are seeing fish there. I think 3 or 4 coho would suffice my smoked salmon fever! Looks like many that have been out have gone waay beyond those levels on other rivers LOL. If I get too many the Mrs turns them into fish cake.
Thanks for the update, looking like a few fish are turning up CAUGHT in the river. It will be interesting to see if the dynamics change when the nets go in tomorrow. Continued good luck!
Interesting that it was low tide you hooked up (plus hens) and glad to see you switched up to get it started. Told you you work geting the bobber and eggs down on this river
Wasn't it similar last year where you caught mostly females earlier on with eggs? I'm trying to recall and too lazy to sift thru al the reports.
BTW the pic doesn't show right now but I'm sure they'll get her fixed. Roughly what size were they?

Re: Duwamish
We hit the Duwi last night and this morning by boat. Launched at 1st Ave S bridge. 2 for 2 last night with three fishing and 3 for 6 (with two coming in as a double) and two missed hits this morning with 4 fishing. The three lost were all on my rig, two at the boat and one long line released. Don't know what the deal was I just couldn't keep em stuck this morning.
Nets go in tomorrow @noon from what I understand.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker
