Had to get out with my son and grab some metal. His first outting of the season and he hooked the first one. Not many people landing fish, made me proud to see him do it. He got a 12lber and I got a 12, 11, and 7lbers. Had a blast with my boy. Hopefully we get out again before winter breaks over.

Long ways for you to go for fish. Glad ya atleast got some. Not alot of fish being caught since they dropped the water I hear. I might need to head down that way sometime soon and see if I can get a fish or two.

Yeah it was at 6200 the day we backtrolled and the side drifters weren't catching much. they dropped it down to 5000 the day we were on shore and they did alot better. weird because you would think lower water would be worse.

ya, weird. grrrr. #-o

We also plugged down from the blue creek hole on the east side of the river all along that beautiful 1/4 mile slot to the big bend and not a bump. DIdn't think to backtroll eggs, the plugs were running sooo nice.

Yea i dont know, even though tuesday the side drfiters did a wee bit better, it was NOTHING compared to what you see when the flows are up around 8000 and the water is a little dirtier. BAcktrolling seems to work 5x better when the water is below 7000, many guides have told me this also. Fishin is slow for bankies also, but picks up very well with flows above 8000. Not sure why but the slower, more IN YOUR FACE presentation of the backtrolling bait in low flows is Deadly.

Seems like you have been doing just fine where ever you are fishing, seeing those hawgs you beached earlier. nice fish!

With the low water, i would seriously consider backtrolling bait, we used coon shrimp, but i bet eggs or regular shrimp would work. Backtrolling outfishes side drifting 99% of the time when the flows are as low as they are right now. I saw many side drifters get skunked monday, and we straight hit 10 fish. If you have the right set up, its almost a sure thing if you backtroll, not to say side drifting wont have its days in low water! let us know how it goes.

I heard free drifting big globs of eggs in the pipe works really well. You just need your handicap lisc. Beats boats 10 outta 10 outings.

Hahahaha! Fishing in the pipe is like fishing for trout at borst park! That's ridiculous.

Careful. I've met a guy last spring fishing there. He was in a wheelchair. He couldn't walk.... I gave him one of my jigs to try and on his first cast he caught a nice Steelie. I think he landed over 5? Not sure, but they were all on my jig. So I don't think fishing there is ridiculous whatsoever.
