Have you caught all 5 salmon species?
So I have limited experience fishing for salmon. Did really good during the last pinks run. Put in time for kings and silvers last year but got skunked the whole season. This is just for fun like the biggest trout thread.
Chinook - 1 shaker in the sound
Coho - 7 pounds
Chum - never tried
Pinks - 3 to 5 pounds
Sockeue - Does kokanee count haha, if so, than 12 inches
Hoping to catch a keeper king next weekend at the Bonneville dam.

RE:Have you caught all 5 salmon species?
I've gotten all of them, got my first sockeye last year.
King - 35 Lbs Samish Ditch
Coho - 15 Lbs Area 9
Pink - 9 Pounds Snoho River
Chum - 20 Lbs Whatcom Creek
Sockeye - 7 Lbs Baker Lake
I will try and dig up some pics later, I think I have pics of me holding all species except maybe a chum.

RE:Have you caught all 5 salmon species?
I've got my five species:
Chinook - 45 pounds - Humptulips River
Coho - 12 pounds - Humptulips River
Pink - 6 pounds - Hood Canal
Chum - 15 pounds - Hood Canal
Sockeye - 10 pounds - Lake Washington - and yes, this one was weighed.

A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

These are all as an adult - when I was a kid I would go out to Westport with my grandma - at the time the fish were almost as big as me and my grandpa had to hold em up for the pictures because they were too heavy for me. No records of sizes tho.
Chinook - 15# - Duwamish
Coho - 12# - Duwamish
Pink - Cookie cutters - Area 10, Snohomish, Skykomish, Duwamish, Green
Chum - 15# - Duwamish & Wallace
Sockeye - not yet..

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker
RE:Have you caught all 5 salmon species?
I have never put a salmon on scale or measured. But have not got a sockeye yet. No big steel either, just small ones best around 6 or 7 pounds.

I caught all six species. Dont forget a few years ago off Bainbridge we were catching Atlantics too after the farm pens broke.

~Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

Not to be Professer Fishing but a Steelhead is a Trout not a salmon species. Just as a FYI.

Mmmm, yes and no Rac. They are all members of the family Salmonidae so they are all very closely related, this INCLUDES rainbow trout AND steelhead.

RE:Have you caught all 5 salmon species?
I've caught all 5 species, however, I'd like to pick up a chum and a sockeye in the salt. For some reason I can't ever get myself to target them when there are slivers and kings to be had.

Got a hard copy pic somwhere. Was too poor at the time to own digital. Will look for it and post it as soon as I do. Have unopened boxes from last move and the move before that. Good time to go through them I suppose.
