They do not make these anymore, or at least this version/brand. I know that upon inspection you may laugh at this item, ha!
But actually it has its uses.

I have had this for many years. It works just fine. Don't think of this at all as being a sonar unit designed to located fish 'while' you are fishing from your boat. What is cool about this thing is that you can use it to scout out underwater structure prior to fishing an area. Think of bass fishing, and wondering what structures are under you, logs, rocks, etc. Are there fish lurking under this dock on a regular occasion? Reconnaissance today, fish tomorrow.
What I found is that if I took it with me when I went fishing, I NEVER even fished, because I was to busy playing around, looking at the structure below. The one time I used it to actually fish, I had my friend on the boat slowly jigging for some fish below. I could watch his jig bounce, and tell him to move it 2' to the left, etc. towards the fish.
