Anyone have any ling cod jigs (jig heads and plastics) and shad darts sitting around that they are willing to sell?

I buy my shad darts on EBay. You can get 100 unpainted ones for about $11. Real easy to paint and a lot cheaper than the price I usually find in tackle stores and from private personal sales.

The key is to use small size darts. Preferably size 1/16 ounce. 1/32 ounce would work too, but I prefer the 1/16 ounce since they usually have a size 4 (preferred) or size 6 hook, as opposed to size 8 or size 10 that comes with 1/32 ounce darts. I like the bigger hook for more holding power.

The hook should be gold for more effectiveness. The ebay sellers usually have some selections with gold hooks.

No need to spend a lot of time and money on the paint. You'll snag up and lose the dart before the paint becomes too chipped.

I go to an arts and crafts store (like Michael's) and buy acrylic paint (comes in tubes). White undercoat, and then mix yellow and green to get chartreuse. You MUST NOT use the water-based acrylic paint--it will flake off. Use the polymer emulsion/base acrylic paint, which is stickier and more durable. You'll need to read the fine print on the tube at the store, to make sure you are not getting the water-based stuff. You can get the paint fairly cheap if you use coupons or buy at sales prices at Michaels
