I'm sure their will be crowds on many popular lakes and this is the typical kickoff
for camping and summer. I usually try to avoid this weekend but my wife and I are both off.
We might head out to the property or fish some remote lakes....maybe both.
Anyone else got any plans?

We're staying at home playing the waiting game. Our second child is due at the end of the month, so we're holding our breath and day-dreaming of camping.

Heading out for Lings/Rockfish in local Puget Sound waters, probably try and get into some trout at some of the quieter lakes too....

I did the same thing you are doing last year..
My daughter is 11 months now and can't wait to take her down there..she was in the womb while her daddy was catching a bunch of fish-
and like you, we can't wait to do some camping. :bounce: :bounce:

LOL. I'm trying to get all the fishing I can in now before he/she arrives! Can't say I'm catching a bunch of fish, but I'm trying. :viking:
Maybe I'll be back in action by the time the humpies arrive. Until then, the only fish I'll be seeing a lot of is Nemo.

LOL..I had to put fishing/camping on hold all last summer, but worth it..I live on a small private lake, so whenever I could sneak in a cast with helping with the baby, I did.
I just got a scolding from my daughters mother and grandmother about taking my daughter fishing with me in the baby backpack...pretty rocky down there, and too rocky to bring a stroller. Dang it!! I'll figure something out so my daughter can see a freshly caught fish.

Well when your wee ones get a bit bigger and are camping ready, if you haven't camped at Beacon Rock, put it down as a place to try. If you like fishing for smallmouth like I do, you will be in for a rod bending good ole time!!

I can imagine. I hunt elk down in that area. I haven't camped at Beacon Rock, but my folks have and said it was nice. I've been by it a number of times and camped up by White Salmon and threw for bass around there on some of the small lakes along the Columbia made by the railroad tracks/highway. Lots of dink SMB in those. I've also bassed the main river up by Umatilla. Always had fun fishing out of Crowe Butte State Park with my brother. Seemed like the amount of bass were endless. That whole stretch along the gorge is fantastic. Haven't fished down there in a few years....someday I will again.

Be careful I was salmon fishing when my wife went into labor and I was down out side Shelton with no cell phone service#-o
When I got back to Olympia my wife was already in the hospital bed#-o She never lets me forget that one:-"
As far as weekend plans it looks like a friend is staying the weekend with his kids and we are going to pound the water around here.. I heard 1 local lake has given up a 12 lb rainbow and a 8 lb rainbow. It also has quite a few BIG brookies:cheers:

LOL! That thought has crossed my mind. I'm sticking close to home. The lakes are within 15 minutes of my house, so I can drop and run if I have to. Unfortunately I seem to have picked up a head cold, so maybe someone's telling me I shouldn't be fishing right now.
