My girlfriend bought me a gift card to Cabela's...I need some suggestions on what to buy!

I think I am good on the rods/reels...plenty of soft plastics!

Maybe an inexpensive rigged swimbait? the thing is, I don't want to buy all this tackle. I have enough as is...

Please help!

I personally like to use Gift Cards for Rods , Reels, and weather apparel ...I dont use them to support my addiction toward buying bass baits, I seem to find myself a lot more curious when I'm not spending my own money only to find down the road that i really don't have a need for the baits anyway ... You can always buy baits , but take advantage of a opportunity to buy something that you will use for a long time .. "Shimano Stella Reels" come to mind ..lol

If his girlfriend bought him a big enough gift cert to buy a Shimano Stella reel, then she shouldn't be a Girlfriend if you know what I mean. I would buy a rod or reel too, if it was a good deal. Problem is you may find a reel for $150 that you could easily get off another website for $100. Shop smart.

I'm with Dez, I tend to "splurge" with other people's money. I buy baits all the time but I'd probably splurge on upgrading my fish finder, buying a nice Gore-Tex jacket or maybe raid the Bargain Cove.

You can always buy me something,..my birthday's coming up,..LOL,..just kidding,..what 2 buy the Basser that has it all? Something out of the ordinary,..I would buy a nice Swimbait but that's me,..sounds like you dont want one so I'd say something different,..something you could use that catches your eye,..might as well go compulsive on this one since you haven't a clue on what 2 get!

If she was smart enough to get you a Cabela's gift card I'd say buy her an engagement ring, or at least some Wedding Ring spinners. Tell her it's the thought that counts. ;-)

Go with an inflatable life vest, like a Mustang or a Stearns. Something crazy like 70% of drownings occur without the presence of a life vest. The only life vest that works, is the one that is worn.

A HAPPY WIFE (Girlfriend) IS A FISHERMANS BEST FRIEND.

Only one thing better than the Cabelas gift card is a wife or Gf that likes to go fishing with you. Never at a loss for a fishing buddy.

I have been there a few times...probably spending more than I needed to.

I will probably go with a quality casting reel...any suggestions? Lookin to spend under 70

$70 puts a crunch on getting a "quality" casting reel, though I guess it depends on what your definition of "quality" is. The least expensive "quality" reel that I would recommend would be a Shimano Citica 100DSV. I know they retail for a lot more than you want to spend, but I bought two off of eBay in the last couple months for between $70 and $80. Great, hardworking reels with solid, aluminum components.

Sorry..... I meant to add that you might be able to find one on sale at Cabela's since the new Citica 200E models are out and they'll start to discount the older D's as they get the new ones in stock.
