I just wanted to drop by and say hello to all my WL friends. It's been a while since I've stopped by. I ended up moving out of WA at the end of 2012 (and unfortunately ended up in the Chicago area). During the summer and fall I've been working in the Upper Peninsula of MI.
In the Chicago area my fishing has been limited to a small lake close to home for bluegill and crappie, but in the U.P. I've been able to get on a lot of my old fishing grounds. This winter I've been getting a lot of splake and whitefish, with the occasional burbot, and I'll be heading to Lake Huron in a couple days to ice fish some perch.
It's nice to be back around where I grew up, but I have to say that I miss fishing in WA. Hopefully I'll be back in a year or two. In the mean time, I'm going to keep reading the reports for my old favorite spots and keep drooling.
Tight lines everyone

Thanks for the update. If you get a chance send us some fishing reports. It would be fun to get some Midwest reports posted on the site.

Mike, I will gladly send reports, mostly from the U.P. of Michigan.
@Mark: Glad you're still hangin' around the site. I'm not one to take too many pictures, but I think I have some floating around of my big splake (23") and a nice little chinook jack I caught through the ice. I'll see if I can dig those up.

Oh yeah, where else would I go? LOL Don't go to too much trouble, it would be fun to see though!
Looks like a neat fish, from the pic, char: Splake
The splake or slake is a hybrid of two fish species resulting from the crossing of a male brook trout and a female lake trout.

Being in the Navy I did my first school there and then went back for a second school. In the North Chicago area. I got to enjoy fishing Lake Michigan and to the west of that is Chain O lakes. I know back in 2003 you could fish with 2 poles with out an extra fee so I would bait fish and cast lures. The do have some good Salmon fishing in Lk Michigan if you get a chance. Tight lines
