What's in a name?

I figured with all the interesting member names around here that it would be cool to explain how you came up with yours.
Of coarse there are the ones that are actual names and simple to figure out, but enliten us all on why you chose your name.

I know the "Surpreme Overlords" are going to have to think long and hard about this one. But don't get frazzled if you can't remember.

My tag name FISHNISLIFE came to me when I was thinking about getting a personalized licence plate and wondering what it could say. Obviously fishnislife is to long but I thought FSHNSLF might work, but would anyone even get it. So when I became a member of a forum years ago down in Cali I stuck with fishnislife because that is the way I feel about fishing. Fishing is life to me. No matter how tough a day can be on the water, I'm always happy just to be out and enjoying Mother Nature. Like life, in fishing you strive harder and harder to better yourself. No matter the outcome, whether good or bad, you still learn and strive to accomplish your goals over and over again. Even when the goal is obtained you are never really satisfied and you continue pushing the limits of expectations that you even set for yourself.
O.k. so maybe some of you just toss a line in the water and hope for fish. If so, the forward maybe a little deep for you. But if you truely are in tune with what is going on around you, you'll understand what I am talking about.
Geez, I sound like a hippie. And no, I don't do drugs. :compress:

Mine comes from college. I was the beer drinking champion during my college days. I beer bonged a 40 ouncer on a few occasions, which was kind of the highlight of the evening... I could also shotgun beer and chug a beer twice as fast as anyone.... Basically, I don't have a gag reflex, and it allows me to poor beer almost straight down my throat. So that is where mine comes from. Unfortunately, now that my college days are over, my "beer skills" are only revealed on special occasions! Cheers.

My email address had become over run with spam. So I decided to get my self a new email account. I had always had a generic email address, name and a number type address like john456@blablabla.com. I was tired of the generic address and decided that I should have one of those creative names people give them self online. Since fishing is always on my mind and there is a pic of my personal best trout hanging above my desk. I some how came up with Big Ass Trout. But since I needed it to be acceptable by everyones standards it became Big As Trout or bigastrout as you see it online. I am pretty sure everyone still understands its real meaning though , Big Donkey Trout. LOL:compress: :compress:

It was either going to be Aaron or Namath, and my mom said there was NO way her son was going to be named after Joe Namath. She must have been a Colts fan....

I have had the nickname skimpy since I can remember. I have 3 older brothers that are all taller than 6ft and weigh no less than 200lbs. Here I am standing maybe 5ft 10" and weighing in at about 140lbs, so they call me skimpy. My senior year in high school I wrestled at 122 and I acually weighed 119. That was 8 years ago. I have only gained about 20 lbs in 8 years. The funny thing is that I could probably eat more than all of them.

I thought my nickname up one day. At the time, I needed a good name for the boat and a good name for on-line fishing forums. Since then the name has just stuck.

Mines easy, I'm from Kalamazoo, MI. I usually like using Bass Man, but I just wanted to be a little original out here in the NW.

"Bodofish" came about after many trips across the border into Canada. We'd go up and spend the minimum amout of time so we could buy booze at the duty free store. Huge saving when you're throwing a huge party! In an attempt to dodge the backup at Blaine we would do the crossing at Lynden. Shortly after crossing the border, we would get a huge kick out of a big sign at the driveway to a farm. The sign read:
Bodo Gretzky - Goat Farm Cooperative
Goat Milk
Goat Meat
Goat Skin
Goat Wool
Chickens and Eggs

Needless to say a few of us started to call each other Bodo and talk in a feigned eastern european accent. Back in those days a number of us guy's lived in a big house just down the street from WWU. As I started getting into fishing, Commercial and pleasure. The name changed to "Bodofish?" when I was comming from or going fishing. Going meant everyone in the house was going to be hungry for a while because I was the first to run out of money and was "just going to work for a couple quarters". Coming back meant the utilities would be up to date and we'd be eating good. So it went for a number of years while my buddies got degreed. The name Bodofish stuck.

The term "bassackwards" came from obviously "ass backwards". I've never really known what the term "ass backwards" meant. Having grown up bass fishing with my Dad in our 14' Aluminum V hull, trying to mimick the Pro Bass Fisherman by standing on the bench and casting, life didn't get any better for a 12 year old boy. Since "ass" in any word would get you a mouthful of Irish Spring...I flipped it around and started saying "bassackwards". Dad approved cause it wasn't OFFICIALLY cusing and Mom, being and English teacher, like the compound word??? or whatever it's called.

Long story short, "bassackwards" kinda sums up who I am, don't be fake, be yourself and your true friends will like you for who you are.

on the original forum i was on ( a crappie board) i wanted to be crappieking, but that was taken so i wanted to be crappieking 13 (my favorite #) but that was taken also, so i settled for crappieking14. then one day i couldn't log back in to my acount, so i was forced to make a new acount. i figured ck14 would be good because everyone on the board just started calling me that for short, now i'm ck14 on almost all the boards i'm on.

When I was in the world of archery, I used to shoot a fancy compound bow with mechanical release, string silencers, fall away arrow rests and all the other bells and whistles. The people around me started calling me "Gizmo Joe." I kind of didn't like that name because it was created for me as a slam against the way I shot. For some reason the people I was involved with were constantly berating everyone elses equipment. When my experiences in the archery community soured, I turned to muzzle loading. I sarted shooting replica black powder rifles and pistols with an entirely different group of folks. These folks were very friendly, and would never bad mouth anything that anyone else shot. They would actually help you to get better at shooting what ever equipment you chose. I suppose that because of the negative feelings I got about shooting in a "High Tech" archery community compared to the positive feelings I got from the "Low Tech" muzzleloading community, and because I was asked to choose a name for myself at one of the rendezvous I attended, I picked Lotech Joe. I liked it so much that I kept it. That was almost 20 years ago.

Eastside Redneck... The name is a derivation of a nickname I've had for most of the time in the Navy: YAR (Yuppie Austrailian Redneck). No, I'm not an Aussie but you'd never know it when I get drunk. Having lived all over the country through the years I seem to have brought a lot of the South up here with me- the way I fish, my bad habits, my music preference, and my love of big & loud trucks; hence the "Redneck." The "Eastside" comes from my current location in the greater Seattle area and its yuppieville label.
The name is truly fitting if you have seen me in context. I drive a lifted Dodge Ram with my 7' Livingston in the bed blaring CCR, Skynard, or Toby Kieth with a huge dip in my mouth and an Aussie hat on while en route fishing. The best part is when I pull up to the boat launch and just back the truck into the water and launch the boat. The looks on the faces of people watching my truck grunt its way into the water at Pine, Beaver, Sammamish is priceless.

What can I say... "Hello. My name is Amos and I'm an Eastside Redneck."

I choose SILENT ANGLER because I am born deaf and use American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with my deaf fellows. Unfortunately I can't even prounce a right word in voice so I have to communicate with hearing people via writing.

Some anglers enjoy fishing with me because I never make a noise or able to tell a lame and long story. For those anglers like to talk long and strong might think I am too quiet for them. Fortunately, it is when I am totally in the "zone." The best thing is that the fish will never know who is throwing a lure ( white, black, or handicapped
person, etx.)

My son was a 3-year starter for Clackamas High School football, the Cavaliers, but we just called them the Cavs. For one game a few of us parents made jersey replica T-shirts with our sons' numbers on them. Rather than use the hallowed Cavalier name we put on CAVDADS. So I became CAVDAD45, for my boy's number. Besides it makes a pretty cool handle.

My real name is Mark. My WL.com name comes from my wife's side of the family. She is from Mexico city - most mexicans do not fish for recreation so the whole sport fishing thing just facinates my inlaws. And then to be able to actually eat what you catch just blows them away (I've seen lakes in Mexico City - I wouldn't stick my toe in em, let alone eat anything out of them). So, I am The Gringo Pescador (gringo fisherman).

my very first fish that i can remember catching was a bluegill, i was about 4 yrs old when my father took me out in a rowboat on a lake in minnesota. the water was so clear that i could watch the perch and bluegill surround my baited hook and peck it clean. they got a really good feeding untill a big gill decided enough was enough and hooked its self to show me what i was suppose to do. so i reeled it in as a 4yr old would do, googawd the splended fish and put it back into the water. i've been a fishermen ever since. my perfered fish to fish for is the bluegill, crappie, perch, bass, pike, trout, others, in that order. been lucky to have been able to fish for a big variaty of fish from the states and around the pacific ocean. but the panfishing is what i enjoy the most and pretty much center all my gear around. sooo.. thats why i chose "PANFISHER" <')//<
