What's in a name?
RE:What's in a name?
Cavdad, You're son goes to Clackamas? Haha its funny I grew up and went to school Milwaukie, Oregon. I was a mustang in my day. Small world.
RE:What's in a name?
Well my name is pretty simple. Its just my initials. One of my best friends name is Jarek, wich sounds pretty similar to my name Garrett. So we both started going by nick names. Most of the time they just call me G, but I preffer gpc. But G is a lot easier than gpc. When I sign my name thats what I put, its on my carthart jacket and thats what I call myself when refering to myself as a 3rd person lol. Nah. Also when I first started doing reports on this site that was my username.

RE:What's in a name?
WOW! It's back.
Thanks panfisher for bumping this back up. After the first thread and very successful contest, this thread died. Way to revive it.
Lets hear about some other names. How did you came up with your handle. Maybe if we get enough like last time, we can do another contest for the "Most Creative Handle".
If you have already done this in the last one, go to it and cut and paste your explaination here so everyone can see it.
Here is the old thread and contest:

My handle is Toni. It is my name, not a nickname, short for a longer name. Spelt with an i because I am female.

Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I figured since I tend to kill so many cutthroats on LW that I would be appropriately titled: cutthroatkiller...this does, however, replace my old username of Rut. I like the new one more.

RE:What's in a name?
BassMasterDerek........Ever since I was a kid my dad loved catching catfish and I only enjoyed catching bass. He eventually started calling me his little bassmaster. As I started catching more bass growing up he now prefers bass before catfish. When I became a member bassmaster was taken so I just threw my first name in there.

RE:What's in a name?
So The Thumb created my name on accident one night.
It started when he moved in with his wife in our neighborhood. He would go out and feed the animals every night, from the ducks to the small birds to the deer, anything that would show up. After a few weeks, we started calling him Snow White (remember, in the movie? the animals swarm her.).
Naturally, he wanted to retalliate by naming me something equally Disney. In return, he was at the house and started thinking of names to call me. Being that I was working on building my big boat, it had to be a woodworker's name.
Herein lies the funny part. The Thumb had a few beers that night. Whilst wallowing in a drink or two, he decided I should be named after the guy that made Pinnochio. Only problem is the beer and his tongue got in a fight.
Thus, Gepetto came out:

RE:What's in a name?
So The Thumb became The Thumb one afternoon....
We were out in the boat doing a bit of fishing a couple summers ago. Beautiful out, the girls were with us in his 21' Campion. We were hookin squaws left and right. So, of course, all of them were required to sacrifice themselves for all of the fry they have eaten in the past. Each one would be brought aboard the boat, grabbed with a thumb in the mouth, a finger in the gillplate, and beaten over the head with a beer bottle.
Later that evening, The Thumb was talking about a job he did a year or so ago where he was working on a panel (electrician by trade) and received a substantial shock. He had some numbness and tingling for a day or two after that. As of late, he was getting the same sensation in his left thumb, which he attributed to the shock. And so it was.
About a month later, we were fishing (again) for squawfish (again) which, of course, were required to sacrifice themselves for all of the fry they have eaten in the past (again). One came aboard, and was dealt with accordingly. This time, however, I made a note of asking The Thumb a question:
"Does that hurt your thumb when you kill them like that?"
....
He was beating the head of the fish with the bottle, which was transmitting the blow to the gunnel of the boat VIA HIS THUMB.......
Alas
The Thumb.

RE:What's in a name?
It is fairly simple for me. My name is Lewis Skiles, so I use all lowercase first initial and last name. I use this on all the boards I am on.
It was kind of funny I saw my three older brothers the week-end of the fifth together for the first time in ten years (it took me having cancer to get us all together) and my oldest brother Larry has the same user name...my wife says we walk and talk and stand the same too.

I chose mallard83 because of my birth year and love for duck hunting, and the fact that I have a mallard drake tattooed on my right forearm.
