Changing email associated with our account?

I tried to change my email for this account so I can get my PM's comments, etc. I had to delete my yahoo account due to frequent hackings so I tried to follow the instructions to change to my gmail account.

I keep get a message that says "The entered e-mail domain has no valid MX record".

What am I doing wrong and how can I change my email attached to this account?
