Northwest Fishing Reports

Hi Mike:

Wondering if there has been a change in the behavior in the login process. Used to be that I'll stay logged in for a very long time, days or weeks, without having to login. That was convenient, if not totally secure perhaps.

Now the behavior is that if I go away for a few hours or half a day, I'll be logged out. If I just go view the Latest Reports, I'll have to login before I can see the details of the report. But when I click the Login button on the toolbar, it'll log me back in without challenging me for user/pw. Less convenient and no more secure.

This is repro'ing on multiple browsers across multiple machines (mac, pc, ios). Just wanted to know if this is a known issue and if there's anything that can be done about it.

It's a problem that showed up a few weeks ago actually. I'm not sure what caused it since we hadn't made any changes, but we have a fix for it that we'll be rolling out in about a week or so. I probably would have rolled it out this weekend but we'll be out of town all next week on a fishing trip and that's never a good time to release large fixes.

If you want the details of the problem, it's an inconsistency between the main website and the forum. The forum uses a different cookie than the .NET cookie created by the main site, and the two have to be reconciled when you start a new session on the website. It used to work fine, it would notice the forum cookie, and create a matching .NET cookie and everything was seemless. Now it seems you have to come to the forum first before accessing anything on the main site that requires cookies. If you were to change your bookmark to link to the forum first it would solve the problem for you until we roll out the permanent fix.

I know it's been a real pain, but we're doing the best we can to get it fixed. Soon!
