A Fish Photo Identification Glossery

Post by bigastrout » Thu May 10, 2007 12:10 am

A fish photo identification glossery could be very cool. I like to look at the Washington sport fish records and I always wonder, what does that strange fish I have never heard of look like. And what was that strange fish pulled from the botton on a Puget Sound fishing trip? With this photo ID glossery we could have the answer to all our questions like this.

The depiction of fish in the WDFW fishing regulations has improved over the years and now has real photos for salmon and some salt water species but its printed on news paper and the clarity is not great. A lot of the pictures are still black and white and only the most popular fish are depicted.

I think it would be great to included each of the fish species listed in the WDFW Sport Fish Records.

That would be a good idea as long as we could get accurate pictures on the fish

I know it will take a some work to put this together. But it should be fairly easy to collect good pics of at least the most popular fish.
