I am finding out that Lurkers sometimes have a justifiable reason for being that way. I know several people who visit the site on a regular basis but will never post. Many people just never learned how to type, let alone learned the keyboard and navigational skills and have the patience that are needed to operate these electronic, complicated, temperamental, intimidating and frustrating things we call personal computers.
Others may be shy or unsure of their writing skills to go on a public forum. There are many people that are very internet leery, some with good reason.
"Lurkers" are o.k. They sign up because they are interested. Being interested, they tell their friends about the site they are going to. Those friends tell friends and down the road, you have 10,000 registered members!
Side note: It is funny how a subject will cause you to flash back to many years past. I want to personally thank Mr. Martin (no relation) where ever you are, who taught me how to type at Herbert Hoover Jr. High School in San Francisco in 1963. While taking that typing class in that time period, I took a lot of flack from many of the guys at the school. I remember them taunting me8-[ with remarks like "What are you going to be Marc, a secretary? Ha! Ha! Ha!" Little did we know at the time what the future was going to give us.

I'm with you on that typing thing Marc. I took 2 year at Lewis & Clark and Ferris High in Spokane back in '63 &'64. I hit 92 words per minute on an old manual typewriter. Actually beat the teacher in a speed race. I've used typing in almost every job I've ever had including the warehouse I'm working in now. BUT, please don't get me close to a 10-key.Marc Martyn wrote:I am finding out that Lurkers sometimes have a justifiable reason for being that way. Where you go is less important than how you get there.
