PSA Lake Washington Chapter's annual Cutthroat Trout Derby will be on June 13. This year we are promoting a special kids division where kids 16 and under fish free. Great prizes for kids and a total of $1000 cash prizes for the open division. Our chapter meeting on June 11 will also be dedicated to how and where to fish for these elusive trout. Public is welcome to attend as well. See http://psalakewashington.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for details.

Catching will be a bit easier this season as the Lake will just about have its summer thermoclines set by the time the derby starts. The only downside is the warm waters and sunny skies bring out the pleasure boaters in droves. Call me a curmudgeon if you must, but I'm hoping for cool and overcast/rain on derby day.

My feelings exactly G-man! Actually I looked at the extended forecast and looks like Saturday is sandwiched in between 2 sunny days with a forecast for cloudy skies and temps in the low 60's! Perfect!! =D>

Looks like this was a banner year for the derby. The weather could not have been better and the fish were cooperative. We didn't crack the 4lb mark this year, but we got close. Here are some of the stats and pictures of the fish that were entered.

Number of Entries 86

Number of Fish 47

Total Weight 83.69
Average Weight 1.78
Successful 36
% Successful 42%

Alright, everybody deserves their 15 seconds of fame..
Did you have any $$ makers in your livewell?

Or any of the other regulars on here, DJ Butler, SalmonBarry, etc.

My deadwell did indeed contain some money fish as did SalmonBarry/Fish Dawg's. I ran into some fish that had been hanging out at the all you can eat buffet table.

So two of the three top winners are members of this site? Congrats everyone! I saw the Fish Princess in one shot, she won in the youth category?
