Snohomish PUD is trying to push through a new DAM on the Skykomish River that would destroy a vast area of Critical Habitat for bull trout and Chinook, and rearing habitat for steelhead, six species of salmon, trout and various other species. The proposal would nearly dewater over a mile of downstream migration of salmon, Dolly Varden and steelhead. The turbines would destroy large area of Redds.
Please attend the PUBLIC MEETING on JUNE 12th at 6:00 pm at the Index Fire House, 512 Avenue A
Index, WA 98256.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will come in from D.C. to hear public comments, as they may differ from what the PUD has reported on behalf of the public.
This project would produce minimal power - less than 1% of their load - and mostly in spring, when there is a surplus of energy. Cost of project is triple the cost of other projects in their portfolio, which are green, unlike the dam. SnoPUD received certificate to sell power to California, so Washington will lose on a grand scale if this goes through. For more info https://www.facebook.com/DontDamTheSky

Re: Dam on the Skykomish River
Did nobody respond to this at all? Sounds like a pretty bogus plan to me, I'll definitely be there. Thanks for sharing. I had heard about this a while ago but I kind of thought it had either died or was so ridiculous that there was no chance of it ever happening.
Re: Dam on the Skykomish River
Has anyone heard anything more on this. Is PUD still going forward with this dam?

Every Wildlife organization in the State is protesting this. I highly doubt it will happen
